Church of Our Lady, St. John’s Wood, London

2009

The proposed floor construction for the Church of Our Lady was developed in conjuction with the architect Francesca Weal. Rather than removing the existing floor, it was proposed to install a secondary floor level at approximately 150 mm above it. This provided a natural void to install essential insulation, as well as new electrical services. The new floor structure consisted of a 22 mm ply structural floor deck, supported on large fixed floor joists set at 400 mm centres. This provided us with a flat and level substrate upon which to install the underfloor heating system.
